How to Pack a Wedding Dress

How to Pack a Wedding Dress

We are frequently asked how to pack a wedding dress, or "will my dress fit into the box?" It is not possible to answer that question fully as we cannot see your dress, however, we can tell you that very few dresses fail to pack into the Grande or Large Travel Box.  If you enquire before collecting your dress, most Bridal Shops are willing to pack you dress into your box for you (some may make a small charge for this).

We do advise brides travelling with a Hand Made Box to use a luggage strap for your journey.  The box has a satin cord carrying handle which also keeps the lid in place on the box, however, occasionally if a dress is particularly full the volume of it can cause the lid to lift away from the top of the box which effectively makes the box too high and not within the permitted size.  The last thing you want is for your box to be refused onboard and sent to the hold instead.  Using a luggage strap to keep the lid firmly sitting on top of the box will not cause any distress or damage to your dress.

When choosing a size of Dress Storage Box, we suggest laying your dress out flat on a bed and folding it - length ways - into three.  This will make it into a 'box shape' and you can measure it.  Once you have these measurements it will give you a good idea what size box your dress will fit into.  If you don't see the exact measurements in our range, we recommend that first of all you try to refold your dress into the sizes of box we do offer (don't forget the Fairytale Wedding Dress Box, details of which you will find on the Dream Wedding Dress Box page).  Some dresses may need a Bespoke Box to be made, we can also help with this, however please allow plenty of time for us to produce a box to your special size.
